Since we are “sheltering in place” and have canceled all of our vacations, I have nothing to write about, so I am importing this post from an old blog.
Months back (actually February 2017) my wife and I agreed we would take a trip by ourselves, her and I, alone for a romantic getaway. More often than not we travel with friends, rarely by ourselves, so she was eager to put a trip together for just us. In just a few days we leave for the White Mountains in New Hampshire, in search of snow? That’s amusing actually, we have 2.5 feet of snow right where we are.
And now we are driving 4 hrs. north to go snowshoeing. Truthfully I am looking forward to this weekend. She has booked us for Friday and Saturday night at The Wentworth in Jackson, New Hampshire. Breakfast and dinners are included in our package, and hot tub to relax in, after a day of snowshoeing and photographing the White Mountains. I’ve also downloaded two books to my phone, so we can read to each other at night. Hopefully it’s more her reading than me, I like when she reads to me.
It turns out that couples who read together are doing a solid for their relationships. Reading actually has the power to bring partners closer together, psychologists say, turning a solitary act into something beautiful for two.
The Internet
Anyhow, a weekend getaway, just the two of us, sounds perfect. See you in New Hampshire.
As always,
Luv ya,
Curly
