In reply to Steve W. Hello Steve. Thank you for buying our guide! We had to pick a one way route and chose Salt Lake City because that's how we did it. But Las Vegas to SLC works just as well and starting in one city doesn't provide any particular advantage that I can think of. If you follow the 10 day itinerary (in reverse), here are options for additional days: (1) Add 1 to 2 days in Capitol Reef. This gives you more time for hiking or time to drive Cathedral Valley and/or Loop the Fold (2) Add on a day in The Needles (Canyonlands) as a day trip from Moab (3) add a day and night in Vegas and when you drive to Zion, visit the Valley of Fire (4) add on a day between Bryce and Capitol Reef to hike Willis Creek and/or Peek A Boo and Spooky Gulches and Zebra Slot.
