A trip itinerary as a blog post? Well, we’ll see how it goes. I’ll add some useful links, and maybe someone will get something out of it.
Prague
Saturday: We land in Prague Saturday evening and are staying at the Hotel Bishop’s House. We have been to Prague twice before; the first time we stayed at a hotel that I can’t remember, which is fine, it wasn’t spectacular. The second time we went through Airbnb and stayed at a great place. The house was perfect, inexpensive and the location was great. Since we are only in Prague for a few days this trip, we decided to stay in a hotel, but we love Airbnb.
Sunday: Sunday morning our friend Jaroslav (a kind, older gentleman who would get a kick out of messages on his Facebook page from you) will pick us up at our hotel, from there we will head back to his home to see his wife Helena (the best cook in Prague). Afterwards, Jaroslav will give us a most excellent tour of Prague Castle. Prague Castle is the largest in the world, the grounds are enormous, the views spectacular, I think, it is a must see for everyone. After the castle, we say “goodbye” to Jaroslav, and the rest of the day is ours to meander about. The city is divided by the river Vltava, our hotel is on the west side of the river in an area called Lesser Town, so we might just explore our backyard the rest of the day.
Monday: In the morning we will probably head over the famed Charles Bridge, and make our way into Old Town. This is an easy walk, beautiful, and a “must do.” Other than that, we have nothing planned until Monday evening, when we go on our food tour with Eating Prague. Day and I have been on many food tours, and we love them! You spend half a day walking around with a guide who takes you to 4 or 5 local restaurants, and you sample all the local cuisine. What’s not to love about that? This will be our third time with Eating Prague, and they are fantastic. If you are ever in Prague, don’t miss one of the best food tours I have ever been on, and be sure to check out their blog.
Tuesday: I think on Tuesday, we are going on a WWII Tour. Day and I have been once before, but we are traveling with friends who have never been, and they would like to go. No pre-booking needed, show up a Powder Tower, 7 days a week, at 10am and 2pm, find the guide with the umbrella and join the tour. We both thought the tour was well worth our time, and we are looking forward to doing it again.
Budapest
Wednesday: We fly out of Prague and into Budapest on Wednesday afternoon, and have nothing planned. We may spend the afternoon at one of the many bath houses, that are supposed to be fantastic.
Thursday: The only thing we have scheduled on Thursday is a walking tour. I found a great website, Tours By LOCALS, and booked it through there. I am eager to see how it works out, since I have used them twice more for our upcoming trip to Italy in December.
Friday: We have another walking tour scheduled for Friday, this one, a food tour. From what I am reading, this one is for the adventurous eaters, and I can’t wait! For me, vacation is all about the people and the food, and I am looking forward to both.
Saturday: Saturday will be the end of our vacation and an early morning trip to the airport.
So that’s our trip in a nutshell. Day is an excellent trip planner, always finding the best flights and places to stay, and I usually research and book the tours. The walking tours are a great way to see the city, learn some history and orient yourself. We always book one or two, but leave ourselves enough unscheduled time to meander about and explore on our own.
Hopefully you are traveling soon, and have found this post interesting and useful, and hopefully, you take time to explore, dream, discover and travel.
Luv ya, Curly
Outstanding! Simply outstanding!๐๐๐
